General Information

The University of Maryland is located just a few miles northeast of Washington, D.C., 30 miles (45 km) south of Baltimore, and 30 miles (45 km) west of Annapolis.

Attached are directions to the University of Maryland, College Park campus, a map of the University of Maryland campus, a map indicating other research sites near the University of Maryland, as well as a map of the State of Maryland. We are located in the A.V. Williams Building (Bldg. 115) and the Energy Research Facility (Bldg. 223).

Directions to IREAP on the University of Maryland Campus

From the Capital Beltway: From the Capital Beltway, Rt. 495, take Exit 25 (Route 1 South) to College Park. Follow Route 1 South approximately 1 mile and bear right to University Blvd, Route 193 West. Make a left turn at the first traffic light (Paint Branch Drive). After turning, stay in the left lane. IREAP is the first building on the left side. The A.V. Williams Bldg. is the next building on the left side.

Parking is available (hourly fee) in the Paint Branch Drive visitor Lot across the street from the Energy Research Facility.

The administrative offices, machine shop, and experimental laboratories are housed in the Energy Research Facility (Bldg. 223); the Theory Group, Chaos Group, and others are located on the third floor of the AVW Building (Bldg. 115).
