Dr. Fiuza received a B.S. in physics in 2002 from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, a Master in Physics in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Science in 2008, also from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. She joined the University of Maryland in 2008 as a Faculty Research Associate.
Her current research interests include intense electron and ion beam dynamics, associated beam simulations and heavy ion fusion applications. She presently performs research on the University of Maryland's Electron Ring (UMER) investigating both longitudinal and transverse beam characteristics of space charge dominated beams. Dr. Fiuza's research has included mainly transverse space charge dominated beams dynamics, acceleration schedule for UMER, resonance crossing studies, as well as WARP simulations and routine development for measurements automation using MatLab.
