IREAP Volunteers at Maryland Day 2004

April 24, 2004 -- Several persons from IREAP worked at Maryland Day 2004 giving visitors information about the Institute and, of course, there were those who worked behind the scenes.




Professor Orloff Volunteers at Elementary School

2004 - Jon Orloff is volunteering as a teacher's aide at Burning Tree Elementary School, helping kids learn arithmetic. One of his third grade students seems to know what a MOS transistor is and wants to know how an inverter works.


IREAP Volunteers at Maryland Day 2002

April 27, 2002 -- Several persons from IREAP worked at Maryland Day 2002 giving visitors information about the Institute and conducting tours of our laboratories.


IREAP Scientists Back in Third Grade

April 9, 2002 -- Dr. Ágúst Valfells and Bryan Quinn of the Institute of Research in Electronics and Applied Physics spoke with the third grade classes of Phelps Luck Elementary School in Columbia, Maryland as a part of the visiting scientist program. The students learned the basic concepts of sound and light and how waves travel in different mediums. They were shown how the physics of sound and light affect their daily lives through various demonstrations.
